Mentor Aide
(i.e., Teacher Aide)
Responsibilities: The Mentor Aide will help with educational and child care tasks. Specifically, the Mentor Aide will be in charge of the classroom during the Mentor's daily lunch break. During this time, the Mentor Aide may be asked to perform the following tasks: (a) supervise students during their indoor activity period (i.e., recess), (b) facilitate a brief "mindfulness meditation" deep breathing exercise using the "Calm" app's pre-recorded meditations, (c) supervise the students' lunch period, and/or (d) aid students in starting their afternoon academic work.

Qualifications: High school diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred. Recently completed FBI/BCI background check (or willingness to obtain this at FTA's expense). Willingness and ability to learn and utilize our educational approach in your interactions with our students. Preference will be given to candidates with: (a) a degree in psychology, human development, education, or related fields, (b) an Ohio educator license or willingness to obtain a "permanent non-tax certificate" which enables adults with a bachelor's degree to teach at private schools, and (c) teaching or childcare experience.
Hours: Mondays through Thursdays from 11:40 a.m. - 12:40 p.m. (times are slightly negotiable). If possible, also Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. once or twice a month. Our school year calendar is available at https://www.flyingtreesacademy.org/info.
Pay: Starting at $15/hour based on experience and qualifications.
Substitute Mentor
(i.e., Substitute Teacher)
Responsibilities: The Substitute Mentor will perform teaching duties, or assistant teaching duties, on days that the Lead Mentor or Director are absent from FTA.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Recently completed FBI/BCI background check on file with the Ohio Department of Education (or willingness to obtain this at FTA's expense). Willingness and ability to learn and utilize our educational approach. Willingness and ability to participate in a full-day training prior to serving as a Substitute Mentor. Preference will be given to candidates with: (a) a degree in psychology, human development, education, or related fields, (b) an Ohio educator license or willingness to obtain a "permanent non-tax certificate" which enables adults with a bachelor's degree to teach at private schools, and (c) teaching or childcare experience.
Hours: As needed on Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Our school year calendar is available at https://www.flyingtreesacademy.org/info.
Pay: Starting at $16/hour based on experience and qualifications.
